Ford GTD Nürburgring Record Attempt – with Three Skynamic Drone Teams on Site
The Ford GTD record attempt at the Nürburgring was, of course, a must-attend event for us – just over 1.5 hours away from our headquarters in Mainz.
Over several days, we accompanied the Ford team with a total of three drone units:Two FPV teams (reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h) and one Inspire 3 team, tracking the full spectacle in 8K using the new 75mm lens.
In December 2024, the Ford Mustang GTD broke through the legendary 7-minute barrier with a time of 6:57.685, driven by Dirk Müller. But Ford wasn’t done: in May 2025, the GTD set a new record – 6:52.072, an incredible 5.6 seconds faster.
Local Expertise is Key on the Nordschleife
Record attempts leave very few chances to capture the car perfectly – and when the moment comes, everything must align.
To maximize output in a limited number of laps, we often deploy three Skynamic drone teams operating in parallel, each with a different setup.
What makes our contribution especially valuable is the ability to offer strategic production consulting: from identifying the most effective filming positions along the 20.8 km Nordschleife, to planning where and when the drone teams should rotate to next.
Naturally, we also handle all required permits and approvals at the various filming locations – a crucial factor at such a complex site.
FPV Performance Meets Cinematic Precision
Our FPV drones currently reach top speeds of up to 250 km/h, which is essential for keeping up during a high-speed record run on the Nürburgring.
But the addition of the Inspire 3 proved just as valuable – allowing us to track the car seamlessly from Steilstrecke through Karussell, Hohe Acht, Brünnchen, and all the way to Schwalbenschwanz.

Our Production Van – Built for Speed & Efficiency

Another key element of our production workflow is our custom-built production van.
Thanks to the integrated gas-spring ramp, our Magliners can be unloaded within seconds. All drones are fully assembled and flight-ready during transport, enabling deployment within just a few minutes – including 19” SUMO monitors and wireless video transmission systems.
We specifically designed the ramp with a low-angle slope, allowing even a single crew member to load or unload the Magliner with minimal effort.
The benefit is not just a fast setup and quick location change – but also a fast wrap, which can have a significant impact on the client’s overall production cost calculation.
